"I see photography as a dialogue between beauty, purpose, and the spaces we choose to inhabit. Whether I am shooting a chef's signature dish or creating a fine art floral commission for a hotel lobby, the intention is always the same: to make something that feels true, and stays with you."
Peggy Cormary Studio is a Washington, D.C based commercial photography and fine art studio whose practice spans two complementary worlds. As a leading luxury hospitality and editorial photographer, the studio works with Washington, D.C's most distinguished restaurants, hotels, chefs, and creative brands capturing food, beverage, interiors, and hospitality with a refined, story-driven eye. As a fine art studio, Peggy Cormary creates original botanical and floral fine art works deeply layered, dreamlike images built through double exposure and alternative photographic processes for hotels, restaurants, and collectors who want more than decoration. They want a feeling.
Peggy's creative perspective was not shaped in a studio. It was shaped around a table. Growing up in France, food was never just sustenance, it was ritual, connection, and beauty in its simplest form: a market vegetable, a shared meal, afternoon light falling across a kitchen. That early intimacy with the pleasures of everyday life led naturally to a lifelong passion for still life, art, and the way extraordinary design can live quietly inside ordinary moments.
Living in Brazil expanded that visual vocabulary entirely. Fearless color, vitality, the dissolving of inside and outside spaces felt as much as seen. A world where beauty was abundant and unapologetic.
Years in Washington, D.C's food and hospitality world including a freelance tenure at The Washington Post Food section something else: a deep understanding of what makes a brand distinctive in a competitive, design-conscious city. What a space needs to say. What a dish needs to feel like before it is ever tasted.
That layered cross-cultural perspective, paired with a genuine passion for contemporary design, unique spaces, and the painterly qualities of light and composition, means every shoot brings something refined and unexpected. Not just technically accomplished imagery a fresh point of view that makes every client's work look like the best version of itself.
Peggy holds a BFA in Visual Arts from the American College of the Mediterranean in Aix-en-Provence, France. Her commercial work has been featured in The Washington Post, Country Life Australia, the White House Historical Association, Red Bull, and Aix Rosé. She is a member of Washington Printmakers Gallery in Georgetown one of Washington, D.C's most prestigious fine art institutions bringing a printmaker's sensitivity to texture, tone, and composition to every image she creates. Her devotion to photography reaches beyond her own lens. As US Editor and East Coast Director of OPENEYE Magazine, the bilingual French–English journal of contemporary photographic art Peggy curates international voices, writes the magazine's US newsletter, and champions its mission to keep exceptional photography free and seen. The same instinct guides her here as behind the camera: that the right image, given the right attention, becomes a conversation.
Six years in Washington, D.C and a dozens of returning clients. Some of Washington, D.C's most respected restaurants, hotels, and culinary brands including The Watergate Hotel, Ridgewells Catering, Redbull, and Root and Stem. The trust of a long-term creative partnership shows in the work and in the businesses that keep coming back.
